Men's Tennis Completes Day Two of FGCU Invitational

FORT MYERS, Fla. –The FGCU men’s tennis team earned a singles win and picked up two doubles victories on Day Two of the FGCU Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Three Oaks Tennis Complex.

“We are continuing to get better in our doubles play and that is exactly what we need heading into the season,” said head coach C.J. Weber. “The team is working hard at playing every point with positive energy. I look forward to seeing our guys finish strong tomorrow in singles.”

FGCU started well in doubles again when sophomore Dean Tsamas (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay HS) and junior Jackson Moore (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch HS/Georgia State) earned a 8-6 victory against South Alabama’s Daniel Leitner and Romain Bocaert.

Senior Matthew Rock (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Fort Lauderdale HS/Jacksonville) and sophomore Lance Lvovsky (Dania,Fla./Broward Virtual School/Jacksonville) picked up their second doubles win of the tournament after a 8-6 victory against Thomas Cook and Jose Ortiz from Georgia State.

In singles, freshman Tianyu Bao (Tianjin, China/Bayshore HS) earned a straight sets victory against South Alabama’s Cody Hall, 6-4, 6-3. Bao improved his overall record to 4-3.

Freshman Michael Beiler (Palm Harbor, Fla./Dunedin HS) lost in the third set against Blake Gregor from South Alabama, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. Beiler almost rallied after winning the second set 6-3 but dropped the final set 6-1.

Three Oaks is Lee County’s newest and largest public tennis center has 12 lighted hard courts. The facility is located between Alico and Corkscrew roads, on Three Oaks Blvd. and is a popular destination for players from the tri-city area (Ft. Myers, Estero and Bonita Springs). Three Oaks plays host to a wide variety of programs, from junior to adult, family, leagues, ladders, drills, lessons, clinics, round robins, tournaments and parents night out.
