@FGCU_Softball Completes Staff with Addition of Jamie Kertes

Kertes joins FGCU from Stony Brook following a career at Bowling Green.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU softball head coach David Deiros announced the addition of former Bowling Green standout Jamie Kertes to the coaching staff leading up to the 2017-18 season. Kertes will take over pitching coach duties while working alongside Deiros and Lindsey Ubrun.

"We are pleased to add Jamie to our coaching staff," Deiros said. "Her enthusiasm is infectious and her toughness will rub off on our pitching staff. She will make an immediate impact with the addition of three new pitchers to our team."

Kertes was in a similar role at Stony Brook where she coached the Seawolves to the second-lowest ERA in the American East Conference. Originally from Carnegie, Penn., Kertes attended Bowling Green where she sits atop the record books in saves and in the top 10 in most major pitching categories.

"I'm very excited about the opportunity at FGCU," Kertes said. "This is a very successful program with driven student-athletes and I look forward to working with them in their pursuit of their goals. I'd like to thank Coach Deiros and Coach Ubrun for this opportunity and hope to help bring FGCU to the next level."

Kertes joined the Stony Brook staff in 2015 and immediately made an impact. During her time, Kertes coached two First Team All-Conference selections, three Pitchers of the Week and a Rookie of the Week in back-to-back weeks.

Her first season in Stony Brook produced a pair of memorable moments. On consecutive dates in April of 2016, Kertes coached Stony Brook pitcher Jane Sallen through two masterful performances, resulting in a pair of no-hitters.

The success did not stop there, as a pair of pitchers ended the season as two of the top five pitchers in the conference.

As a student-athlete, Kertes was a tremendous athlete herself at Bowling Green. Over her four-year career, Kertes started 111 games and struck out 512 batters, good for first and third at BGSU, respectively. Additionally, her 23 shutouts also sit third in program history.
