Kavanagh Named 1st Vice President Of Division l-AAA ADA
One of the founding members of the D1-AAA ADA in 2000, Kavanagh is entering his second year at FGCU. Under Kavanagh’s watch in 2009-10, the Eagles won the Atlantic Sun regular season title in baseball and the CCSA Championship in women’s swimming and diving, while seven programs finished in the top three in the conference. FGCU student-athletes also excelled in the classroom, as the 240 student-athletes achieved a record 3.17 cumulative GPA for the year led by 10 teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
Brian Quinn, director of athletics at Cal State Fullerton, was chosen to serve as the D1-AAA ADA President for 2010-11. Quinn replaces 2009-10 President Jean Lenti Ponsetto, athletics director at DePaul University.
Joining Kavanagh on the board is 2nd Vice President John Suarez, director of athletics at Long Island University Brooklyn; 3rd Vice President Keith Gill, director of athletics at American University; Secretary Peg Bradley-Doppes, director of athletics at the University of Denver; and Treasurer Bob Driscoll, director of athletics at Providence College.
Now in its 10th year, the Division l-AAA Athletic Directors Association’s mission is to enhance initiatives common to its Division l-AAA membership (the Division I institutions that do not sponsor football), in particular, aspects related to their flagship basketball programs. The Division l-AAA ADA is administered by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), which is in its 46th year.
