FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU swimming team will be represented in the 2012 Olympic Games by head coach Neal Studd, Danielle Beaubrun (Vieux Fort, St. Lucia/The Bolles School) and Karen Vilorio (Teguciagalpa, Honduras/Elvel School) as they will represent their countries in London starting on July 27. Studd will be coaching Beaubrun for St. Lucia, while Vilorio will be competing for Honduras.

“It really is a dream come true to be a part of the Olympic Games and extra special as it is in London, close to where I grew up and was raised as a kid,” said Studd, the three-time CCSA Coach of the Year. “It is an honor to represent St. Lucia who has been super supportive of everything Dani and I have been working on in leading up to the games. I am so happy for Karen who has worked so hard this year to achieve her Olympic goal, she is a great kid and really deserves this.”

It is Studd’s second stint as head coach of St. Lucia after serving at the World Championships in Shanghai, China last year. The Eagles have won the Coastal College Swimming Association title for the past four seasons in five years of existence. His incoming recruiting class is ranked No. 18 in the country by CollegeSwimming.com, the second year in a row Studd has pulled in a top-25 class.

It marks the first time that FGCU swimming will be represented in the Olympics, as Beaubrun qualified last October in the Pan American Games with a time of 1:10.63 in the 100-meter breast. Vilorio will participate in the 100-meter back after touching in at 1:06.18 at the 2012 GCST qualifying meet last month.
