ST. THOMAS, USVI - The Florida Gulf Coast University women's basketball team had an action packed first day in St. Thomas. The team arrived late Tuesday night and will compete in the 2012 Paradise Jam on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

This marks the Green and Blue’s first trip to the Paradise Jam in program history and is the second Thanksgiving tournament in the last three seasons that the Eagles have participated in. FGCU played in the 2009 Caribbean Challenge where they defeated Virginia Tech (64-57) and Montana (68-52) in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

The team arrived late Tuesday night and got to the island in time to have a quick practice at the USVI Sports and Fitness Center. Today, the Eagles went out to Bucks Bay on a catamaran for a snorkeling excursion and then practiced at a local high school.
