FORT MYERS, Fla. – Riding a five-match winning streak, the FGCU women’s tennis team (10-3, 4-0 A-Sun) will look to extend the streak as it closes out its 2013 spring schedule against USC Upstate and ETSU at the FGCU Tennis Complex this weekend.

The Green and Blue will take on USC Upstate on Thursday, March 28 at 2 p.m. before closing out their home season on Saturday, March 30 at 11 a.m. against ETSU as the Eagles will look to improve to 6-0 in conference play. FGCU has already matched its win total from the 2012 spring season by winning 10 matches so far this spring.

With a 6-2 record at the FGCU Tennis Complex so far this season, the Eagles will look to win seven home matches for their third straight season. With two home matches remaining, FGCU has a chance to set a program-record eight home wins if they defeat the Spartans and Bucs.

Both USC Upstate and ETSU have found success on the road so far this season as the two clubs have posted respective 4-2 and 6-3 road records.

Trailing the all-time series against USC Upstate (8-5, 0-2 A-Sun), FGCU will look to improve upon its 1-3 record against the Spartans. Upstate will look to snap a two-match losing streak while also capturing its first A-Sun dual match win of the season after having fallen to ETSU and North Florida earlier this spring.

ETSU (7-4, 2-0 A-Sun) will put its unblemished conference record up against FGCU’s as both teams continue their quest for a regular-season league title with only a few matches remaining in the 2013 season. The Bucs are currently riding a three-match win streak and will face Stetson on Thursday, March 28 before making the trek to face FGCU. The Eagles have never defeated ETSU in the four meetings between the two teams and will look to change that on Saturday.

FGCU will look to remain dominant on the doubles court as it has taken the doubles point in the last five matches which has given the Eagles a head start by securing the first point in each of those dual matches. The No. 2 and No. 3 doubles pairs for FGCU have both won each of their last five doubles contests to get off to a strong start during those dual matches.

Once the Green and Blue have secured the doubles point, they have finished the job on the singles courts as well as of late from the top to the bottom of the singles lineup. FGCU has not lost in the No. 6 spot since Feb. 21 against UCF and the fourth through sixth positions in the singles order have posted a 30-4 record this season.
