FORT MYERS, Fla. – Coming off a fifth-straight Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) title, the FGCU women’s swimming and diving team had its conference ranked as the 13th deepest in the 2013 conference comparison by CollegeSwimming.com on Monday, June 24.

“I am excited to see the CCSA getting the recognition it deserves,” said FGCU head coach Neal Studd. “The conference keeps improving since its beginning and I want to send a big thank you to CollegeSwimming.com for crunching the numbers.”

In addition to ranking the deepest conferences of 2013, CollegeSwimming.com also ranked the fastest conferences, with the CCSA placing 15th. The Green and Blue finished the season with a 9-2 mark, while posting a flawless 4-0 record against CCSA foes.

The website looked at each of the 63 conferences and compared them side-by-side. To do so, CollegeSwimming.com scored each of the conferences against one another by comparing the winning time in each individual event along with the time needed to qualify for the championship and consolation finals (8th and 16th places respectively).  This was done two ways in an effort to determine the fastest and the deepest conferences.  To calculate the fastest conferences, they placed the greatest weight on the 8th place time, followed by the winning time.  To determine conference depth, the site placed the most weight on the times needed to qualify 16th with the least weight placed on the winning time.
