FGCU Athletics Announces Staff Promotions
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU athletic department has announced the promotion of two employees.
FGCU Director of Athletics Ken Kavanagh has promoted Mike Estes to the title of Assistant Athletic Director/Head Athletic Trainer and Will Pitt to Director of Operations & Facilities.
Estes will now serve as FGCU’s Assistant Athletic Director/Head Athletic Trainer, following eight years as the Eagles Head Athletic Trainer. In addition to directing the FGCU Sports Medicine-Athletic Training Staff, Estes will now be the Sports Coordinator for FGCU Men’s and Women’s Tennis and will supervise the strength & conditioning, equipment and game management areas.
Estes, a graduate of Wright State University, received his Master’s degree in athletic training from Indiana State University. Prior to FGCU, he served as the director of sports medicine services at inMotion Rehabilitation in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Pitt has been at FGCU since the winter of 2002. He was a volunteer student assistant coach with FGCU Baseball and was also a former player for the Eagles. In 2006, Pitt was hired full-time with FGCU Athletics as the department's equipment manager, a position he held until his recent promotion. Pitt also served as Gameday Operations Manager prior to his current appointment.
Among the many duties in his new position, Pitt is now the department’s point person for all Athletics facilities issues. Pitt earned a bachelor's degree in 2007 from FGCU.
"Mike Estes and Will Pitt have both provided outstanding service to FGCU Athletics," Kavanagh said. "Their dedication and focus on supporting our mission has been exemplary. I am very excited to announce their promotions."
