FORT MYERS, Fla. – Building off its recent success of growing major league talent, the three-time defending A-Sun regular season champion FGCU baseball team is set to welcome major league scouts to its Eagle Pro Day scheduled for Friday, November 12 at 2 p.m. at Swanson Stadium.

Three-time reigning A-Sun Coach of the Year Dave Tollett encourages scouts representing multiple Major League Baseball teams to attend the event.

"Our staff feels that we have a solid group of student-athletes, both incoming and returning," said Tollett. "The Pro Day is an excellent opportunity for them to showcase their abilities in hopes of playing at the next level after their time at FGCU has finished."

The event will begin at 2 p.m. with players warm-ups followed by a 60-yard dash, position fielding and batting practice. The main event of the day will feature the Eagles competing in an inter-squad scrimmage.

The Eagles have enjoyed success in recent Major League Drafts. In the 15th round of the 2008 draft, right-handed pitcher Casey Coleman’s name was called with the 461st pick by the Chicago Cubs. Coleman has since worked his way into the starting rotation and will look to hold his position throughout next season. In 57 innings of work, Coleman (4-2) recorded 27 strikeouts while holding a 4.11 ERA and .260 opponent batting average in eight starts.

The 13th overall selection in last June’s draft went to lengthy left-handed pitcher Chris Sale, who has ascended the ladder in just his first major league season and continues to dominate his role in the Chicago White Sox bullpen. Making a strong bid to crack next year’s starting rotation, Sale appeared in 21 contests and held a 2-1 record with four saves, finishing with 32 strikeouts and a 1.93 ERA in 23.1 innings on the hill.
