FORT MYERS, Fla. – Highlighted by an interview with FGCU women’s swimming & diving head coach Neal Studd, the fifth episode of the FGCU Sports Report produced by WGCU-TV will air five times this weekend, beginning with a pair of appearances on Saturday morning and evening.
The first showing will go on at 6:30 a.m. on ABC7 Saturday morning and will air again in prime time at 6:30 p.m. on WGCU.
The FGCU Sports Report, a 30-minute show which showcases all 14 Division I sports at FGCU, will keep the Southwest Florida community apprised of the FGCU Eagles’ action on a weekly basis through mid-May. As a community partnership agreement, Waterman Broadcasting also will be airing the show on ABC7 and NBC’s News Now channel.
The two-time Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Coach of the Year, Studd sat down with host Tom James as this week’s exclusive interview. Studd’s interview, as well as a special feature on sophomore Danielle Beaubrun, who competed in the Central American and Caribbean Games in Puerto Rico this past July, will give fans a closer look at the two-time defending champion FGCU swim team as it gets closer to its CCSA Conference meet in February.
Women’s basketball junior Sarah Whitfield and redshirt freshman Kiara Bomben also visited the studio to discuss the team’s recent trip to Cancun. During their trip, the Eagles picked up a pair of wins over ACC foe Virginia Tech and 17-time Big Sky Conference champ Montana to keep their 2010-11 record unblemished.
As always, recaps of all of FGCU’s sports from the past week and previews of what’s ahead will be shown. This week’s player profiles will focus on men’s basketball senior captain Chad Lutkenhaus and men’s tennis senior Steve Binninger.
A full listing of the time and channels the show will air on is highlighted below. The FGCU Sports Report will have six episodes in the fall and 18 in the spring. The show will take a break after the Dec. 11 episode and will kick-back-up on Jan. 15.
