FORT MYERS, Fla. – Looking to extend its winning streak to three matches, the FGCU men’s tennis team is set to face in-state rival FAU on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton, Fla.

The Eagles (2-2) are heading into the non-conference dual match as winners of two straight matches against Georgia Southern (W, 5-2) and Bethune-Cookman (W, 5-2).

“This is a big weekend for both teams,” said first-year head coach C.J. Weber. “Both programs are built around Florida kids. They all know each other and it’s going to be a great competitive battle.”

Sophomore Dean Tsamas (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay HS) is coming off his first Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award announced on Wednesday after finishing last weekend with a perfect 2-0 singles record and a 2-0 doubles mark.

The Green and Blue have three players who are currently on a three-match winning streak in junior Jackson Moore (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch HS/Georgia State), sophomores Lance Lvovsky (Dania,Fla./Broward Virtual School/Jacksonville) and Tsamas, who lead the team with three dual match victories.

FAU comes into the match with a 4-1 record after picking up four straight wins against FAMU (W, 4-3), Bethune-Cookman (W,6-1), Georgia Southern (W, 6-1) and most recently over Wofford (W, 6-1) on Feb. 4. Junior Taylor Albrecht leads the Owls with a perfect 4-0 record at No. 1 singles, while freshman Chris Janssen is 4-0 at the No. 2 singles position.
