Men's Tennis Ready for Final Non-Conference Matches of the Season

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Coming off its first-ever night match, the FGCU men’s tennis team is set for a pair of non-conference matches at the FGCU Tennis Complex this week. The Eagles will take on Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Wednesday, Mar. 7 at 1 p.m. and Penn University on Friday, Mar. 9 at 9 a.m.

The Eagles (3-3, 1-0 A-Sun) took down Kennesaw State, 5-2, on Mar. 1 to open up 1-0 in conference for the first-time ever. The Green and Blue also have non-conference wins against Georgia Southern (W, 5-2) and Bethune-Cookman (W, 5-2).

Sophomores Dean Tsamas (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay HS) has a five-match winning streak heading into the contest with 5-1 dual match record to lead the team. Sophomore Lance Lvovsky (Dania,Fla./Broward Virtual School/Jacksonville) has a 4-2 dual match mark, playing mostly at No. 5 singles.

In doubles, Lvovsky and Matt Rock (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Fort Lauderdale HS/Jacksonville University) lead the team with a 3-3 dual match record. SIU-Edwardsville enters the match with a 1-5 record after falling to Southern Illinois, 5-2, on Feb. 19. The Cougars are led by Marten Jonsson with a 5-1 record at No. 1 singles.

Penn (5-2) has their four-match winning streak snapped after falling to A-Sun foe Stetson, 4-3, on March 5. The Quakers are led by Ivan Turudic with a 2-4 record at No. 1 singles.
