FORT MYERS, Fla. – With five conference championships in hand so far this season, FGCU Director of Athletics Ken Kavanagh is this week’s guest on the season finale of the “Eye on Eagles” feature by WINK-TV that will air during this Saturday’s morning broadcast. The interview will run sometime between 6-7 a.m.
Kavanagh sat down with WINK News Sports Director Clayton Ferraro for this week’s interview, discussing FGCU’s successful 2011-12 athletic season thus far, the development of the men’s basketball program and the FGCU Athletics brand moving forward.

On Thursday night, the FGCU softball team became the fifth FGCU program to win a league title this year when a walk off homerun by Kayla Gabel in the bottom of the ninth propelled the Eagles to their second Atlantic Sun regular season title and the No. 1 seed in next week’s conference tournament.
FGCU was the only school in Division I to win both the regular season and conference tournament in men’s and women’s soccer, while the women’s swimming & diving team captured its fourth consecutive Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) title. The women’s basketball won the A-Sun regular season with a conference best-ever 18-0 record and went on to win the A-Sun Tournament as the No. 1 seed.
