FGCU men's basketball head coach Andy Enfield announced on Monday that 6-foot-10 Georgia Tech transfer Nate Hicks has signed a grant-in aid to join the Eagles next season.

FGCU men's basketball signee DaJuan Graf represented the West team on Saturday, April 14, in the Jordan Brand Classic (JBC) regional game at Time Warner Cable Arena. Graf was the West squad’s starting point guard, turning in a line of 10 points, four rebounds and three steals over 26 minutes of work.

A unanimous Atlantic Sun All-Freshmen team choice, FGCU men's basketball guard Bernard Thompson earned some more postseason accolades on Tuesday when he was named to the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Freshmen All-American team. Thompson was one of two A-Sun rookies to make the 25-member Mid-Major Freshmen All-American squad, as he was joined by USC Upstate's Ty Greene.

With both programs coming off successful runs into March Madness, FGCU men's and women's basketball season tickets for the 2012-13 campaign are now on sale at the FGCU ticket office. FGCU was one of just 15 schools out of 344 in Division I that saw its men's and women's program advance to its respective Conference Tournament championship game.

Coming off a successful weekend at the Atlantic Sun Tournament for both teams, the FGCU Athletic Department announced the dates for its men’s and women’s basketball postseason banquets on Wednesday. The women's banquet will recognize their NCAA Tournament campaign on Wednesday, April 4, while the men will celebrate their best season in Division I history on Tuesday, April 10.

Junior Sherwood Brown was named to the All-Conference second team, while rookies Brett Comer and Bernard Thompson occupied two of the five spots on the All-Freshmen squad.

Junior Adam Pegg poured in a game-high 23 points to lead five players in double figures for Stetson, as the Hatters built a lead as large as 24 before fending off a late FGCU rally to hand the Eagles an 86-80 loss in front of an Alico Arena crowd of 2,352. The loss dips FGCU’s record to 13-14 on the season and 8-8 in the A-Sun with two regular season games remaining. The Hatters snap a four-game losing streak to the Eagles with the win and move to 6-10 in the conference.

The win is the fourth in five games for the Eagles, who even their record at 10-10 on the season, equaling their win total from all of last year. The 100-point outing is FGCU’s second since joining Division I in 2007-08, while it also set a record for its largest win in D-1 history.

Coming off its first win under head coach Andy Enfield, FGCU returns to Alico Arena on Thursday night to host Southwest Athletic Conference (SWAC) member Prairie View A&M. The game will be the last at home before the Eagles head out on a four-game road swing to close the month of November.

After opening its season on the road for the ninth straight year, FGCU returns to the friendly confines of Alico Arena for its home opener and first-ever regular season meeting against nearby Ave Maria on Monday night. The game will also be the home debut of first-year head coach Andy Enfield.

Despite trailing by as many as 16 early in the second half, the FGCU men's basketball team fought all the way back and had several chances to take the lead in the final seconds, but came up short in a 73-72 season-opening loss at TCU on Friday night at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. FGCU trailed 71-69 with just under two minutes to play and the ball, but a trio of three-point attempts by junior Sherwood Brown and sophomore Christophe Varidel just missed and TCU retained possession with 49 seconds left.

For the ninth straight year, FGCU will open its season on the road when it takes on Mountain West member TCU on Friday night in Fort Worth, Texas. The trip to the Longhorn state is the first of two for the Eagles over the first week of the season. Opening just the 10th season in program history, the Eagles are 3-6 all-time in season openers.

Just two nights before his first official game as FGCU men's basketball coach, Andy Enfield announced on Wednesday that DaJuan Graf has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) on the first day of the early signing period and will join the Eagles in 2012-13. Graf, a 6-foot point guard, is a rising senior at Phillip O. Berry Academy where he has led the Cardinals to a 51-11 record and a pair of North Carolina Section 2A Championships over the last two seasons.

Behind a decisive 15-0 run midway through the second half and a 48 percent shooting night, the FGCU men's basketball team defeated Saint Leo 78-59 in an exhibition game on Saturday at Alico Arena. Led by a game-high 16 points from senior Kevin Cantinol, three FGCU players reached double figures and two more scored nine points to highlight the balanced scoring attack.

The 10th season in FGCU men’s basketball history will get underway on Saturday night when the Eagles welcome Division II foe Saint Leo to Alico Arena for an exhibition contest at 8 p.m. First-year head coach Andy Enfield will roam the home sideline for the first time since being named the program’s second-ever head coach. General admission tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children age 18 and under.

The 10th season of FGCU men’s basketball and the first under head coach Andy Enfield officially got underway on Saturday morning as the team took the newly-renovated Alico Arena floor for the first practice of the 2011-12 campaign. Predicted to finish eighth in both Atlantic Sun Conference preseason polls submitted by the league coaches and media, practice got underway at 8:30 a.m. and wrapped up just before noon.

Both of the FGCU men’s basketball team’s contests against in-state Atlantic Sun rival Stetson will appear on Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS), as the nine-game regular season schedule and postseason tournament television dates were announced on Thursday. The FGCU men’s basketball team’s 18-game Atlantic Sun schedule was unveiled on Monday, finalizing the program’s 29-game regular season slate under first-year head coach Andy Enfield. With Campbell leaving the A-Sun to join the Big South Conference, the league slate went from 20 games to 18 contests this season. FGCU will play a home-and-home with each of the other nine teams in the A-Sun with games commencing the opening weekend of December.
