FORT MYERS, Fla. – Redshirt junior Sarah Hansen (McKean, Pa./General McLane HS) came very close to recording a triple-double in FGCU’s 79-50 win over Northern Kentucky and for her performance, she claimed College Sports Madness A-Sun Player of the Week honors on Monday morning (Jan. 21).
The McKean, Pa. native earned CSM A-Sun Player of the Week accolades after she finished with 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor, 2-of-6 from behind the arc and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. She also added 15 rebounds and six assists, which were both career-highs.
Hansen, who currently ranks third in the FGCU record books with 1,217 career points, leads the A-Sun in scoring (17.5 points) and free throw percentage (.876), while ranking in the top 10 in seven categories (rebounding, field goal percentage, assists, steals, blocks, assist/turnover ratio, minutes played). She has led the Eagles in scoring on 12 occasions and recorded six double-doubles this season.
The Green and Blue, who have made at least one three-pointer in 216 consecutive contests and 328 of 329 games in program history, will be back in action on tonight (Jan. 21) when they host the Bisons of Lipscomb (2-14, 1-5 A-Sun) at Alico Arena at 7:05 p.m. Fans that can not make it to campus for the game can watch live on ASun.TV or log onto FGCUAthletics.com to get links to live audio and live stats.
