MACON, Ga. – Following a 2-0 home opening weekend in singles action, FGCU men’s tennis sophomore Tianyu Bao (Tianjin, China/Bayshore HS) has been named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week, announced by the league Wednesday.

The weekly award is the first of Bao’s career and the fourth in program history. The Green and Blue have garnered two out of the three A-Sun Player of the Week awards this spring, as junior Dean Tsamas (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay HS) was the first recipient of the championship season.

Last Friday, Bao played in the top spot and defeated Andre Stialbe of Tory, 6-4 and 6-3. He followed with a win at No. 2 singles against SMU’s Alex Sanders, 6-4 and 6-4. Bao has won three straight singles matches with two of them coming at the top spot in the lineup.

The Green and Blue will return to action Friday, February 15 when they travel to Orlando, Fla. to face UCF at 2 p.m. and then take on Connecticut the following day at 11 a.m.
