Women’s Golf Heads to UC Spring Invitational
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Two days after returning home from the Ocala Spring Invitational, the FGCU women’s golf team will return to the course on Friday morning, March 22nd, as the UC Spring Invitational, hosted by the University of Cincinnati, begins at the Plantation Inn Golf Resort and Spa in Crystal River, Fla. The three-day tournament gets underway on Friday morning and will conclude with a final round on Sunday.
“I am really excited to go back to this event. I know Georgia (Price), Chelsea (Guoynes), and Megan (Van Etten) are familiar with the course and that will give us an advantage,” said head coach Sarah Trew. “We saw some low scores earlier this week and I really believe we are on the verge of breaking through where we have everyone firing on all cylinders at once. This is a course that will give up some low numbers if you play smart and attack at the right times. I think if we take the confidence we built from the second round in Ocala then we will have a successful tournament.”
The 17-team field includes Bradley, Cincinnati, Embry Riddle, Daytona State, Farleigh Dickinson, FAU, Florida Southern, North Dakota State, Oakland, Rutgers, Seminole State, Seton Hall, Tampa, Alabama-Birmingham, Texas Pan-Am and Xavier.
The Green and Blue competed at the UC Spring Invitational last season and finished in 15th out of 19 teams. Sophomore Georgia Price (Winchester, England/Fort Myers HS) led the Eagles with a tie for 25th place, individually.
The Eagles are coming off a tie for 7th place finish at the Ocala Spring Invitational which saw sophomore Chelsea Guoynes (Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City Central HS) lead the squad finishing in 11th place with a total score of 223 (75-71-77).

Friday and Saturday will be begin with tee times at 8:30 a.m. with FGCU teeing off between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Sunday’s final round will be shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m.
