FORT MYERS, Fla. – Freshman Tabby Tindell (Ocala, Fla./Trinity Catholic HS) continues to bring in awards following her record-breaking performance in the Eagles 4-0 win at Stetson on Saturday, this time being named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women’s Team of the Week.
The weekly list highlights top players from around the country and selects the athletes who were at the top of the collegiate game that week. This week’s list includes names from high caliber programs such as Florida, Virginia, Minnesota, Nebraska and Notre Dame.
“I am pleased to see Tabby get recognized at the national level for her play” head coach Jim Blankenship added. “She was truly outstanding this weekend.”
Tindell broke single-season program records for goals and points on Saturday when she tallied a hat trick at Stetson giving her an Atlantic Sun leading 14 goals and 31 points for the year. Her record setting play helped guide the Eagles to their fourth-straight regular-season A-Sun title and secure the top-seed in the A-Sun Championship Tournament for the third-straight season. FGCU has won back-to-back conference tournament championships.
The Ocala, Fla. native earned her second-consecutive A-Sun Player of the Week honor and third this season in the wake of her accomplishment. The freshman currently ranks 14th nationally in goals and 20th in points for the Eagles who have moved up to No. 69 in the RPI rankings.
The Eagles will host the A-Sun Tournament semifinals and finals beginning Nov. 8 at the FGCU Soccer Complex. The top-seeded Eagles will await results from Saturday’s (Nov. 2) quarterfinal matchups to determine their opponent.
