TUSCON, Ariz. – FGCU baseball, fresh off a 37-20 record in 2013, is receiving votes in Collegiate Baseball’s Fabulous 40 NCAA Division I preseason poll. The Eagles are three-time Atlantic Sun Regular Season Champions and had seven players chosen during the 2013 MLB draft.

The 2014 FGCU baseball schedule will feature six teams that participated in the 2013 NCAA Baseball Tournament, two of which come from the Atlantic Sun. The schedule will also include three teams ranked inside the top 16 nationally in Florida, Florida State and Miami as well as seven teams that received votes, three of which come from the A-Sun. Eight programs ranked or receiving votes hail from the state of Florida.

The Eagles kick off the 2014 slate of games, Feb 14, with a five-game home stretch beginning with four-game series opposite Rhode Island and concluding with a solo game against South Florida, both of which received votes in the preseason Top 40. Nine of FGCU’s first 13 games are against teams that are either ranked or receiving votes in the preseason Top 40 and will play 26 games against teams currently ranked or receiving votes. The Eagles went 9-10 against those teams last year.

Mercer, North Florida and defending A-Sun Champion ETSU are the teams receiving votes from the A-Sun. The Eagles posted a 4-5 record against those teams last season en route to a 19-8 conference record.
