MACON, Ga. – After sinking the game-winning free throw in the FGCU women’s basketball team’s 74-73 overtime win over Stetson on Saturday, sophomore Stephanie Haas was named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
With a team-high 16 points, including two free throws with 0.2 seconds left on the clock, Haas (Avon Lake, Ohio/Magnificat High School) led the Eagles to their fourth-consecutive Atlantic Sun Regular Season Title.
Haas sank 5-of-10 shots from the field, including 4-of-7 3-point attempts against Stetson and was crucial in a game that saw 17 lead changes. Haas also pulled down five rebounds, while dishing out three assists and recording no turnovers in 26 minutes off the bench.
No. 1 seed FGCU continues Atlantic Sun action with the 2014 A-Sun Conference Tournament this week. The Eagles will host no. 8 Lipscomb on Tuesday, March 11 at Alico Arena with a 7 p.m. tipoff.
