JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The second round of the Atlantic Sun Championship Tournament was halted due to severe weather Tuesday afternoon. With each player finishing no more than eight holes on the day, the FGCU women’s golf team sits at plus-3 for the second round and holds a fourth-place ranking in the field of 10 teams.
The second round of competition will resume at 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning with the third round to immediately follow.
After holding fifth place through the first round, Georgia Price (Bude, England/Fort Myers High School) moved in to a tie for third in the second round. Price bogeyed her first hole and birdied her second before shooting three pars. Prices’ round was stopped after finishing just five holes.
Senior Briana Carlson (Inverness, Fla./Citrus High School) led the Eagles’ play with a score of 1-under through five holes in the second round. Carlson moved up 16 positions and stands at 14th place entering the third day of competition.
Megan VanEtten (Trinity, Fla./J.W. Mitchell High School) finished seven holes before play was suspended and sits at plus-1 with 11 holes to play. VanEtten started the round with a birdie and added three bogeys and another birdie before leaving the course.
Chelsea Guoynes (Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City Central High School) and Mei Khuan Yong (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia/S.M.K. Cochrane) round out the Eagle lineup at plus-9 and plus-11, respectively. Guoynes will have 12 holes to play on Wednesday morning, while Yong has 11 remaining.
