After collecting more postseason hardware last week, Atlantic Sun All-Tournament team members freshman Shelby Morgan and sophomore Chelsea Zgrabik picked up another postseason honor, earning a spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-South Region second team.

Staying in-state for its first-ever Division I NCAA Softball Championship appearance, the FGCU softball team (37-22) is set to travel to the Gainesville Regional on Friday, May 18 to face the fifth-seeded host Florida Gators (46-11). Tickets for the contests at the Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium are now available.

One day after capturing their first-ever Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, the FGCU softball team (37-22, 14-4 A-Sun) learned of its regional destination Sunday during its watch party at the Beef O’ Brady’s Restaurant in Estero, Fla. FGCU will face fifth-seeded Florida on Friday in the Gainesville Regional at 6 p.m.

Sophomore Jessica Barnes went 3-for-3 with a three-run homer and tournament MVP freshman pitcher Shelby Morgan earned a six-hit shutout as FGCU defeated Kennesaw State, 8-0, in six innings to claim the 2012 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship Saturday afternoon at USC Upstate's Cyrill Stadium.

The FGCU softball team is one win away from heading to an NCAA Regional and the Eagles will face second-seeded Kennesaw State on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in the title game of the 2012 A-Sun conference softball championship at Cyrill stadium, televised live on ESPN3.com.

Freshman pitcher Shelby Morgan threw a four-hit shutout and junior Mariah Fernandez had a clutch three-run double to defeat Atlantic Sun foe Stetson, 3-0, Friday in the winners bracket final of the 2012 A-Sun conference softball championship hosted by USC Upstate at Cyrill stadium.

Sophomore Chelsea Zgrabik blasted a walk off grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning to help the FGCU softball team earn a comeback victory against Atlantic Sun rival Jacksonville, 8-4, Thursday in the second round of the 2012 A-Sun conference softball championship hosted by USC Upstate at Cyrill stadium.

The FGCU softball team's quest for their first-ever Atlantic Sun Conference tournament title and bid to an NCAA Regional begins this coming Thursday at 12:30 p.m., when they face the winner of Wednesday's game between fourth-seeded Lipscomb and fifth-seeded Jacksonville in the A-Sun championship at Cyrill Stadium on the campus of third-seeded USC Upstate.
