FORT MYERS, Fla., - The No.21 FGCU softball team improves to 34-3 as they came from behind in both games of a double header against Upper Iowa, picking up 10-2 and 7-2 wins.
The first game was highlighted by an eight-run fifth inning to break open a close game and make the score 9-2. Rachel Homan (Sr., Vero Beach, Fla.) hit a two run jack that just cleared the fence to start the eight run fifth. Carmen Paez (Jr., Belle Grade Fla.) ended the game in the sixth with a solo shot, her 15th of the year, to right center field. Rachel Edinger (Jr., Lakeland, Fla.) went the distance for the Eagles as she improved her record to 16-0 on the year.
In the night bill, the Eagles once again fell behind, this time 3-0 in the third as the Peacocks scored on three unearned runs. The Eagles answered right back with three runs of their own in the third one of them being on a RBI double by Cheyenne Jenks (So., Naples, Fla.). FGCU then scored two more in the fourth and fifth and the Peacocks got one run back in the fifth for the final score of 7-4.
Dana Frantz (So. Brighton, MI) went the distance for the Eagles giving up only one earned as she is now 15-3 on the year.
The Eagles will next be in action Wednesday as the play host to North Georgia College & St. looking to improve on their 34-3 record.
