Softball Downs Host North Georgia College & State

DAHLONEGA, Ga – North Georgia College & State University managed only two hits in an 8-0 loss to 8th-ranked Florida Gulf Coast University here Saturday morning at the Ryan’s Classic.
The Eagles put a run on the board in the first with a sacrifice fly to right to plate Rachael Homan for a 1-0 lead. The following inning, the Eagles blew the game open with six runs on as many hits to take a 7-0 lead after just a pair of innings. Alisha Boyd and Natasha Johnson both doubled in runs and Jessica Rouse and Homan each singled in a run in the breakout inning. Florida Gulf Coast would add one more insurance run in the third as they captured an 8-0 five inning victory.
Rachael Edinger improved to a perfect 22-0 for the Eagles with five innings of two hits ball while striking out six. Nicole gets the loss for the Saints in three innings of work, allowing nine hits and eight runs. Trisha Snider pitched an inning in relief and recorded a strikeout.
FGCU will be in action again tomorrow when they travel to West Georgia for a doubleheader that begins at 12:00 pm.
