Softball Hits the Road

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU softball team hits the road for six away games this weekend. The Eagles will face Appalachian State, Western Carolina and East Tennessee State in double-header action.

FGCU's Schedule 
March 14: at Appalachian St. (double-header), 2 p.m. 
March 15: at Western Carolina (double-header), 1 p.m. (Livestats available at caramountsports.com)
March 16: at East Tennessee St. (double-header), 2 p.m. 

The Eagles have a 29-7 overall record, including a perfect 5-0 in away games.

Senior Carmen Paez (Belle Glade, Fla.) has a team-best .424 batting average and a 1.000 slugging percentage. She leads the conference with 14 homeruns and 44 RBI's. Paez also leads the A-Sun in runs scored and total bases. 

The Eagles solid pitching staff is led by senior Rachael Edinger (Lakeland, Fla.) Edinger, who leads FGCU with 112 strikouts, is 13-3 with an ERA of 1.49 and has pitched seven shutouts this season. Junior Dana Frantz (Brighton, Mich.) is 8-3  with a 2.70 ERA and has walked a team-low 11 batters this season. Freshman Morgan Campen (Roungemont, N.C.) is 8-1 with a team-best 1.10 ERA. Campen has pitched four shutouts for the Eagles.
