Eagles Drop Double-Header But Capture Piece of 1st Place in the A-Sun

DeLand, Fla. - The FGCU softball dropped a double-header with the Hatters of Stetson. The Eagles are now 48-16 (16-6 A-Sun) on the season. The Eagles earned a share of first-place in the A-Sun with the 2 losses.

The Eagles lost the first matchup to the Hatters by a score of 1-0. Amanda Lindsey hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the fifth inning to put Stetson up 1-0. The Eagles threatened in the top of the seventh inning with two outs, the bases loaded and Carmen Paez (Belle Glade, Fla.) up to bat, but Paez hit a fly ball to center field to end the game. Rachael Edinger (Lakeland, Fla.) pitched 6.0 innings and struck out four batters in the loss. Edinger is now 20-9 on the season.

In game two, with the score tied 3-3 and the bases loaded Amanda Bailey hit a game-winning single and the Eagles fell by the final score of 4-3.
