Eagles Receive 15 Votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU softball team received 15 votes in this week's ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll the Amateur Softball Association announced on Tuesday.

This is the second time that the Eagles have earned votes in the ESPN.com national poll.

"It is an honor to be mentioned in the same release with the best teams in college softball," said Head Coach Dave Deiros. "Our team is playing very well right now and deserves the recognition. We need to keep the momentum going as we enter our conference schedule starting this weekend."

FGCU has a 30-4 overall record, including winning 22 consecutive games. Senior Cheyenne Jenks (Naples, Fla.) leads the team with a .490 batting average. Jenks also has 16 home runs, 52 RBI, and a 1.073 slugging percentage. Cat McDaniel (Melbourne, Fla.) anchors the pitching staff with her 12-0 record. McDaniel has an ERA of 1.95 and has pitched nine complete games, including three shutouts.
