FORT MYERS, Fla. – Just a week after being named the FGCU Athletic Department’s 2010-11 Most Outstanding Co-Female Student-Athlete, Atlantic Sun Softball Player of the Year senior Courtney Platt (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast) garnered another postseason honor, earning a spot on 2011 Easton All-American third team.

This is the second time in the program’s four years at the Division I level that an Eagle has earned All-American status by Easton. Cheyenne Jenks was named to the first team in 2008.

Platt slugged her way to the A-Sun batting crown with a conference-best .387 average, while also leading the conference in doubles (16), walks (57) and total bases (93). The Naples, Fla., product closed out the season ranked fourth in the nation in walks per game (1.02) and fifth in on-base percentage (.576). Platt led the team with 30 RBI and had a hit in 37 out of 52 games, while producing 12 multi-hit games.

Graduating in December with a degree in biology, Platt concludes her career atop the FGCU record book in walks (175) and doubles (49), is second in on-base percentage (.514), fourth in RBI (124) and fifth in homeruns (25), slugging percentage (.602) and triples (9). Platt was also a finalist for the Eagle Scholar Athlete award.

“Once again Courtney has been given an honor she deserves,” said head coach David Deiros. “Her continued inclusion with the nation's elite softball players is proof of her great success at FGCU. As always we are very proud of her accomplishments.”
