Eagles sweep Concord College

Naples, FL – The FGCU softball team earned a pair of wins tonight as they defeated Concord College 4-0 and 6-1. In the first game Nicole Werhner (9-2) threw a complete game shutout as she struck out six in her best outing of the season. Werhner had excellent control as she only walked one batter and allowed just four hits. The Eagles only pounded out five hits as Erin Ogden and Kristy Ringler led the way by each going 2-for-3. Ringler scored two runs and had an RBI while Ogden picked up a RBI as well. Ashley Cecil was the other standout as she went 1-for-3 with two runs scored. In the second game the Eagles bats came alive as they pounded out fourteen hits in the 6-1 victory. Ashley Cecil went a perfect 4-for-4 with 2 runs scored and a RBI. Cecil also swiped a base in the win. Kristy ringer had another 2-hit game as she went 2-for-4 while Christine Beck went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI. Kelly Morgan went 2-for-3 with a RBI as well. Christine Beck picked up her sixth win on the season as she threw a complete game, surrendering six hits and one earned run. The Eagles will face Holy Family and Bentley College tomorrow in a double header. The games will be played at the Cape Coral Sports Complex, and the first game will begin at 4 pm.
