Rouse Named To First Team All-Academic

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University's softball standout junior Jessica Rouse (Jacksonville, Fla.) was named to the CoSida All-Academic District III first team as announced today. Rouse becomes the second player in program history to earn Academic All-District honors. She holds a 3.47 cumulative grade-point average with a major in criminal justice. Rouse helped lead the Eagles to a 58-9 overall record this season. The junior left fielder started 59 games this season and led FGCU in six different offensive categories, including batting average (.844), on-base percentage (.483), total at-bats (146), doubles (6), RBI’s (66) and homeruns (18). She was also the NCAA Division II leader in several statistics. Rouse finished ranked No. 14 in batting average nationally. She also was No. 27 in Runs Batted In per game with 1.12 and No. 15 in home runs per game with a .31 average. She holds the career record at FGCU for homeruns. She holds single season records in batting average, most homeruns, most runs batted in and most total bases (142). The 2005-06 Eagle softball team earned the most wins in the school's short athletic history.
