Edinger Named To All-Region First Team

FORT MYERS- Fla. – The Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II All-Region Selections were announced and Florida Gulf Coast University had one player make the first team selections. Sophomore Rachael Edinger (Lakeland, Fla.) was one of three pitchers named to the All-Region team. A transfer from Polk Community College, Edinger started 30 games this season for the Eagles and helped them to a 58-9 record and a first time berth in the South Region NCAA Div. II National Tournament. With an overall pitching record of (26-6) she led the Eagles with 212 innings pitched. This year Edinger set the school record for most strikeouts in a season with 256 K's. She finished the year with an ERA of 0.79 in 35 appearances. This is only the fourth season of Eagle Softball at FGCU. The Eagles finished tied for 5th in the South Region Tournament and set a school record 32 game winning streak earned a Top 25 national ranking. Edinger is the third Eagle to receive the All-South team honor following the 2005 Eagle graduates Ashley Cecil and Kelly Powe. South Region First Team Pos.
