CLEARWATER, Fla., - The Florida Gulf Coast University softball team finished the 2007 Trition Spring Invitational with a 5-0 record and will be the tournament champion. FGCU now has a record of 16-2 on the year. Dana Frantz picked up a win over Eckerd in FGCU’s first game of the day. Carmen Paez hit a homerun to lead the Eagles to the 7-1 win over the host Tritions. In the second game, FGCU took a 5-1 win over Tampa. Rachel Edinger continued her undefeated season with her seventh straight win. Paez hit another homer on the day and later added an RBI single to clinch the win for the Eagles. There are still games to be played on Sunday, and at the conclusion, an All-Tournament team will be announced. The Eagles are in action again on Wednesday February 28 when they host Mercyhurst in a doubleheader at the FGCU Softball Complex.
