FORT MYERS, Fla., - The FGCU softball team won its sixth game in three days with a pair of 2-0 shutouts over Winona State. The Eagles improve to 25-3 while the Warriors suffered their first and second loss of the season, falling to 4-2. Carmen Paez (Belle Glade, Fla.) singled with two outs to start a rally in the bottom of the first for the Eagles. Desiree Miller (Hartville, Ohio) doubled to bring home Paez. That would prove to be all Rachel Edinger would need to collect her 12th win in as many starts. Edinger allowed five hits while striking out eight in the game. Jessica Rouse added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth with a solo homerun to lift FGCU to a 2-0 win. In game two, the two teams combined to strand six batters through three innings before FGCU would get on the scoreboard. Rouse blasted a two-run homer, her fifth of the year, over the centerfield fence to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. Dana Frantz (Brighton, Mich.) scattered seven hits while striking out seven batters to pick up her 12th win of the year. Cheyenne Jenks (Naples, Fla.) was 2-for-3 in the game for the Eagles. FGCU will be back in action again on Wednesday when they host Lynn in a doubleheader that begins at 5:00 pm at the FGCU Softball Complex.
