FORT MYERS, Fla.- The fifth ranked FGCU softball team continued their winning ways as they defeated New York Tech 9-1 and 6-1 to improve their record to 42-3. The Eagles have now won 23 games in a row.
In the first game FGCU jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning and never looked back. Carmen Paez (Jr., Belle Glade, Fla.) connected on her 18th homerun of the year in the second inning to make the score 6-0. Rachael Edinger (Jr., Lakeland, Fla.) continued her dominance as she gave up one run in six innings and improved her record to 20-0 on the year.
In the night cap FGCU got down 1-0 in the third before erupting for three in the third. Cheyenne Jenks (So., Naples, Fla.) continued her solid play as she hit a two run double to get the Eagles on the scoreboard. Dana Frantz (So., Brighton, MI) pitched another complete game and gave up one unearned run as she picked up her 19th win of the year compared to three losses.
The Eagles will be in action again on Tuesday as they face Barry University. The first pitch is set for 5:00 PM at FGCU Softball Complex.
