DAHLONEGA, Ga., – After receiving a forfeit against King College, the Eagles found the Augusta State Jaguars a little less accommodating. ASU ended FGCU’s 27 game winning streak with a 2-0 shutout, dropping the Eagles to 46-4 while improving to 25-15. The Jaguars got on the board first as Amy Dumas led off the second inning with a walk. A two-out double by Kayla Hicks drove in the games first run. Hicks scored later in the inning on a wild pitch by FGCU reliever Dana Frantz (Brighton, Mich.). ASU starter Jacklyn Benenhaley limited the Eagles to a pair of hits and allowed four walks in the game. She tossed 7.0 innings to move to 6-4 on the year. Sarah Backe (Flossmoor, Ill.) received the loss for FGCU after allowing a pair of runs in 3.1 innings. FGCU will be back in action again tomorrow morning at 10:00 am when they face host North Georgia College & State in the Ryan’s Classic.
