FGCU Softball Selected to NCAA Tournament

FORT MYERS, Fla., – The NCAA Division II Softball Committee has selected the 64 teams that will participate in the 2007 NCAA Division II Softball Regional Championships. Eight teams will participate at each of eight regional sites in double-elimination tournaments to determine the final eight championship participants. Regional competition will be held May 10-14. Winners will advance to the finals hosted by Ashland University May 17-21, at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio. The 56-8 FGCU softball team was selected to the 2007 NCAA Tournament. The Eagles, a member of the South Region, will travel to Valdosta, Ga., to compete in the eight team NCAA South Region bracket. The Eagles drew the #3 seed and will face #6 Rollins (37-15) in the opening round of the tournament. Should the Eagles win their opener, they would face the winner of the #2 Alabama-Huntsville (44-16) vs. #7 Barry (42-17) matchup. The Eagles and Tars will face off at 11:00 am in the first game of the day.
