TAMPA, Fla., - The FGCU softball team split a pair of games in the second day of the USF Wilson Tournament. The Eagles went 1-1 with a win over USF and a loss to Hofstra.
The Eagles are now 4-5 on the season.
The Eagles handed USF a 2-0 loss behind a two-run homerun by Desiree Miller (Hartville, Ohio). Rachael Edinger (Lake City, Fla.) picked up the win, going all 7.0 innings while striking out four batters.
Hofstra jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the Eagles second game of the day. Hofstra scored six runs in the second inning and held off the Eagles to win by the final of 8-5.. Carmen Paez (Belle Glade, Fla.) went 1-for-4 with a two-run homerun. Sam Waldron (Plant City, Fla.) finished 2-for-3 with a RBI.
The Eagles will be in action for the final day of the USF Wilson Tournament when they face FAMU tomorrow afternoon.
