Eagles Open A-Sun Play by Taking Two Games from ETSU

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The FGCU softball team took both games in a double-header with East Tennessee State. The Eagles are now 33-7 on the season.

The Eagles won the first matchup to the Lady Bucs by a score of 11-0. The Eagles were up 5-0 going into the top of the fifth inning, but exploded for six runs in the top of the fifth as ETSU committed three errors in the inning. Rachael Edinger (Lakeland, Fla.) pitched her eighth shutout of the season and also picked up her 15th win of the season. She only allowed two hits and struck out nine.

FGCU knocked off ETSU in game two by a score of 4-3. The FGCU offense was led by Cheyenne Jenks (Naples, Fla.) and Carmen Paez (Belle Glade, Fla.). Jenks went 1-for-3 with a homerun and one RBI and Paez finished 1-for-1 with a homerun, one RBI and three walks. Jenks' homerun was her fourth of the season while Paez's homerun was her A-Sun Conference leading 16th homerun of the season. Morgan Campen (Rougemont, N.C.) picked up the win, going the distance and striking out two.

The Eagles will be in action Tuesday when they host Long Island for a double-header. The first game is set to begin at 5 p.m.
