FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU softball team swept a double-header from Campbell on Thursday night to extend their winning streak to three. The Eagles are now 36-8 on the season and 4-0 in the A-Sun.
The Eagles took the first matchup from the Camels by a score of 8-5. Senior Rachael Edinger (Lakeland, Fla.) went the distance for the Eagles, pitching seven innings, allowing nine three hits while striking out six to pick up her 16th win of the season. Junior Cheyenne Jenks (Naples, Fla.) wenr 3-for-4 with a homerun and five RBI's. Desiree Miller (Hartville, Ohio) went 2-for-3 with two RBI’s.
FGCU came from behind to knock off Campbell in the second game by a score of 9-7. Down 7-5 in the bottom of the sixth, the Eagles scored four runs off of five hits in the inning to take a 9-7 lead and held on to take the win. Junior Jessica Paez (Belle Glade, Fla.) went 2-for-4 with an inside-the-park homerun, a triple and five RBI's. Junior Jessica Carter (Ocala, Fla.) finished 2-for-3. Freshman Morgan Campen picked up her 11th win of the season, going 7.0 innings and striking out nine.
The Eagles will be in action next weekend when they head to Nashville to battle Lipscomb and Belmont. FGCU faces Lipscomb on Mar. 28 and Belmont on Mar. 29.
