Eagles Sweep A-Sun Foe, Kennesaw State

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU softball team swept a double-header from Kennesaw State on Friday night to get back to their winning ways. The Eagles are now 42-10 on the season and 10-0 in the A-Sun.

The Eagles took the first matchup from the Camels by a score of 8-2. Senior Rachael Edinger (Lakeland, Fla.) went the distance for the Eagles, pitching seven innings, allowing two hits while striking out eight to pick up her 18th win of the season. Senior Carmen Paez (Belle Glade, Fla.) went 2-for-3 with a homerun and six RBI's. Roz Tyre (Lake City, Ohio) went 1-for-2 with a homerun and an RBI.

FGCU knocked off the Owls in the second game by a score of 8-3. Junior Cheyenne Jenks (Naples, Fla.) went 1-for-3 with a homerun and five RBI's. Junior Jessica Paez (Belle Glade, Fla.) finished also 1-for-3 with a homerun. Freshman Morgan Campen picked up her 12th win of the season, going 7.0 innings and striking out six.

The Eagles will be in action on Sunday afternoon when they host the Mercer Bears in double-header action. The first pitch is set for 1 p.m.
