FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU softball team split a double-header with the Bears of Mercer.The Eagles are now 43-11 on the season.

The Eagles lost the first matchup to the Bears by a score of 4-2. The Eagles had an opportunity to tie and possibly win the game in the bottom of the 4th, 5th and 6th innings. In each of those innings, FGCU had the bases loaded but were unable to bring the runners in.

FGCU knocked off Mercer in game two by a score of 7-4. Jessica Paez (Belle Glade, Fla.) finished 1-for-3 with two RBI's, Cheyenne Jenks (Naples, Fla.) went 1-for-3 with a homerun two RBI's and Carmen Paez (Belle Glade, Fla.) finished 2-for-2 with a couple RBI's.

Morgan Campen (Rougemont, N.C.) picked up the win, allowing eight hits and striking out three, and Dana Frantz (Brighton, Mich.) picked up her first save of the season.

The Eagles will be in action Friday when they travel to Boiling Springs, N.C. to take on A-Sun foe, Gardner-Webb, for a double-header. The first game is set to begin at 2 p.m.
