FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU softball team scored 14 runs in two games as they knocked off Dartmouth and St. Francis on Sunday in the final day of the FGCU Spring Break Invitational.
In game one against Dartmouth, Courtney Platt (Naples, Fla.) led the way offensively with a 2-for-2 effort, including a grand slam and six RBI. In the circle, Dana Frantz (Brighton, Mich.) picked up her fifth win of the year, giving up five hits and striking out a pair in the 12-8 victory.
In game two, the Eagles needed a solo HR from Jessica Paez (Belle Glade, Fla.) and a Platt RBI single to defeat St. Francis 2-1. Cassidy Rash (Crystal River, Fla.) got the start and the win, improving to 4-1 this year. Rash allowed just three hits and struck out two.
The Eagles (19-4) now head to Honolulu, Hawaii to play in the Malihini Tournament hosted by the University of Hawaii from March 5-8.
