Eagles Earn Votes in the Ultimate College Softball Top 25 Poll

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU softball team received 10 votes in this week's Ultimate College Softball Top 25.. This is the sixth time that the Eagles have received votes in a Division I Top 25 poll, and the fifth time that they have received votes in the Ultimate College Softball Poll.

The UCS Top 25 is voted on by selected collegiate coaches.

FGCU currently has an 19-4 overall record. Senior Cheyenne Jenks (Naples, Fla.) has been solid for the Eagles this season and is hitting .500 with nine HRs and 31 RBI. Courtney Platt (Naples, Fla.) and Jessica Carter (Ocala, Fla.) have also been huge for FGCU, with both players currently hitting over .460 with more than 20 RBI apiece. Cat McDaniel (Melbourne, Fla.) has anchored the FGCU pitching staff. McDaniel is 9-0 with a 1.84 ERA. She has pitched six complete games with three shutouts, including a no-hitter, and struck out 58 batters.

The Eagles will be in action on Thursday night when they face Oregon State and Mississippi State on day one of the Malihini Tournament hosted by the University of Hawaii. The first game is set to begin at 12 p.m. HST (5 p.m. EST).
