FORT MYERS, Fla. - The No. 19 FGCU softball team will host the Golden Panthers of Florida International for a double-header on Wednesday night.
The Eagles have a 40-6 overall record, including winning 32 of their last 34 games.
Senior Cheyenne Jenks (Naples, Fla.) leads the team with a .476 batting average. Jenks also has 21 home runs, 65 RBI, and a 1.056 slugging percentage. Cat McDaniel (Melbourne, Fla.) continues to anchor the FGCU pitching staff with her 18-0 record. McDaniel has an ERA of 2.00 and has pitched 13 complete games, including five shutouts.
FIU (24-22, 8-8 SBC) has won five-straight games for the second time this season. Among those wins was a no-hitter pitched by freshman Jennifer Gniadek in a 5-1 win over Middle Tennessee. The Golden Panthers went on to sweep the Blue Raiders for their first sweep of the season.
This will be the second time the two teams have met this season. FIU defeated FGCU 10-9 in nine innings on Feb. 15 during the Blue and Gold Felsberg Memorial. The Golden Panthers hold a 3-0 advantage in the overall series.
