FORT MYERS, Fla. - The No. 19 FGCU softball team will face the Camels of Campbell for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at noon. The Eagles have a 42-6 overall record (10-2 A-Sun), including winning 34 of their last 36 games.
Senior Cheyenne Jenks (Naples, Fla.) leads the team with a .477 batting average. Jenks also has 57 runs scored, 62 hits, 22 home runs, 69 RBIs, 139 total bases and 47 walks. Senior Jessica Paez (Belle Glade, Fla.) is hitting .337 with 14 home runs and 58 RBIs. Junior transfer Catherine McDaniel (Melbourne, Fla.) has yet to lose this season and is 19-0 with 100 strikeouts in her 122.2 innings from the circle. McDaniel has an ERA of 1.88 and has pitched 14 complete games, including six shutouts.
The Camels (29-11 overall, 14-4 A-Sun) went 4-0 last week thanks to strong pitching from Lauren Stephan and Brittany Stanley. The two pitchers combined to register shutouts in three of the four games. Stephan went 2-0 last week and didn’t allow a run to either Kennesaw State or Stetson.
After this weekend’s last road games the Eagles will hit return home for the last six games of the season. FGCU will next host the Stetson Hatters on Tuesday, April 21st in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m.
