SENIOR DAY: #23 Eagles Host Lipscomb in Season Finale

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The No. 23 FGCU softball team will host the Lady Bisons of Lipscomb for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2 p.m. The games can be seen live on ASun.TV.

With a sweep of Lipscomb on Saturday, the Eagles will lock up a share of the 2009 A-Sun Regular Season Championship, which will be their second consecutive A-Sun Championship. 

The Eagles have a 46-8 overall record (14-4 A-Sun), including winning 38 of their last 42 games.

Senior Cheyenne Jenks (Naples, Fla.) leads the team with a .472 batting average. Jenks also has 60 runs scored, 68 hits, 23 home runs, 73 RBIs, 148 total bases and 54 walks. Senior Jessica Paez (Belle Glade, Fla.) is hitting .331 with 14 home runs and 62 RBIs. Junior transfer Catherine McDaniel (Melbourne, Fla.) anchors the pitching staff. She is 21-1 this season with 110 strikeouts in her 138.2 innings from the circle. McDaniel has an ERA of 1.82 and has pitched 15 complete games, including six shutouts.

The Lady Bisons (34-11 overall, 12-4 A-Sun) come into Saturday's games after sweeping Stetson in doubleheader action. Lipscomb has now won five of their last eight games.
