FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU softball program has announced plans for a fall softball camp for girls of all ages and skill levels. FGCU head coach Dave Deiros, who recently led the Eagles to a 47-9 overall record in their second season in Division I, will host the camp. Deiros’ squad led the nation in team batting average last season after hitting .351 as a team, behind the bats of Cheyenne Jenks, Jessica Carter, Courtney Platt, Lauran Ziegler, and Jessica Gary, who all finished with batting averages of .350 or better.
The camp will provide well-rounded instruction of the game and an enjoyable and rewarding experience for each camper. The camper to instructor ratio will be kept low in order to provide the best possible instruction and attention to each camper. The camp will be split into four sessions over a two-day period—November 14th and 15th, 2009. Days, times, and focus of each session are listed below:
• Beginner Hitting - Saturday, November 14th - 9 am until 12 pm
• Beginner Defense/Pitching - Saturday, November 14th - 1 pm until 4 pm
• Advanced Hitting -Sunday, November 15th - 9 am until 12 pm
• Advanced Defense (does not offer pitching instruction) - Sunday, November 15th - 1 pm until 4 pm
The cost of the camp is $75 per session and $125 for any two sessions. There will be discounts for siblings and team members. The registration deadline is November 6th.
