FORT MYERS, Fla. – After splitting a doubleheader at FIU on Tuesday (Apr. 6), the FGCU softball team returns to conference play with a pair of doubleheaders this week. On Thursday (Apr. 8), the Eagles will host Campbell at the FGCU Softball Complex, and on Sunday (Apr. 11), the Blue and Green will travel to DeLand to play Stetson.

The Eagles (18-24, 6-4 A-Sun) knocked off the Golden Panthers of FIU, 10-4, in game one of a doubleheader on Tuesday (Apr. 6), before falling in the second game, 4-0. Mariah Fernandez (Cape Coral, Fla.) hit a three-run homer in the win, but FGCU was able to muster just two hits in the nightcap, both coming from Lauran Ziegler (Palm Bay, Fla.).

Courtney Platt (Greenville, Ohio) continues to lead the Atlantic Sun in home runs (nine), RBIs (28), and walks (33). Jessica Gary (Naples, Fla.) leads the Eagles with a .362 batting average, good for seventh in the conference. Gary is also tied for the A-Sun lead with Platt in total bases (74).

Campbell (15-19-1, 2-2) hasn’t played since March 31, when they split a doubleheader at No. 22 North Carolina. The Camels won the first game, 6-4, before dropping the second game, 5-2. Sarah Forgacs ranks third in the conference with a .375 batting average and leads the team with 11 stolen bases. Lauren Stephan’s seven home runs are tops on the team, to go along with 20 RBIs and a .316 average.

Stetson (20-17, 2-4) will host Campbell in a doubleheader on Saturday (Apr. 10) before the Eagles visit DeLand on Sunday (Apr. 11). The Hatters went 1-3 on their road trip last weekend, dropping both games at ETSU and splitting a doubleheader at USC Upstate. Amanda Lindsey leads the offense with a .343 batting average, six home runs, and 16 RBIs. Lindsey also leads the conference with a .551 on-base percentage and ranks second with a .687 slugging percentage. In the circle, Lindsey has been effective as well, leading the team with 13 wins and a 1.04 ERA, the third-lowest in the A-Sun.
