FORT MYERS, Fla. - On the heels of her strong offensive performance this past weekend, FGCU softball freshman Emily Lanier (St. Cloud, Fla./Harmony) was the named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week for the period of February 28-March 6, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Lanier led the Eagles to a 4-3 week with a .412 batting average on the week. The St. Cloud, Fla., product had two doubles and two home runs, which included a two-RBI double against St. John’s during a 5-0 victory over the Red Storm on Sunday. Lanier is tied for second on the team in walks (12) and home runs (3).
Besides the victory against St. John’s, the Eagles picked up wins against St. Francis, Colgate and Dartmouth en route to becoming the Stevens Industries FGCU Tournament Champion.
FGCU (9-12) now heads west to play No. 7 Arizona State on Wednesday at 9 p.m. in Tempe, Ariz. The Eagles then take part in the Diamond Devil Tournament hosted by Arizona State beginning on March 10.
