Platt, Sullivan Earn Weekly Conference Honors

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Senior Courtney Platt (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast) recorded 10 RBI and sophomore Stephanie Sullivan (Venice, Fla./Venice) pitched two shutouts on the week en route to their Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week honors, respectively, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Platt hit .636 over the weekend, going 7-for-11 with five runs scored and 10 RBI for her second-ever weekly award. She blasted her fourth and fifth home runs of the season, including a three-run shot against ETSU to open a nine-run first inning. Platt also picked up a double and triple en route to a 1.455 slugging percentage in the 4-0 weekend.

Sullivan went 2-0 on the week, earning a complete game shutout in both contests. The sophomore hurled a one-hitter against ETSU and held the league’s top offensive team, USC Upstate, to just three hits in the second game on Thursday. Sullivan notched eight strikeouts, while only giving up one walk and holding opponents to a .095 average.

FGCU continues its homestand with a conference doubleheader against first-place Lipscomb (22-14, 9-1 A-Sun) on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the FGCU Softball Complex. Tickets for the game can be purchased through the FGCU Ticket Office in Alico Arena either in person or by phone at (239) 590-7145. Tickets are also available here. FGCU students, faculty and staff get in free of charge with an Eagle ID. Kids 12 and under get in free.
